Knitted Christmas Clutches

Here are some more knitted clutches I plan to give as Christmas gifts this year.
They all use the same pattern --- a free download on Ravelry.
I accomplished the smaller - change purse size by using thinner yarn and a smaller needle (size 7).
Here's a bigger one using the same pattern -- thicker yarn and bigger needle
I also made a little zippered change purse
Here's a great tutorial for inserting a zipper and lining a crocheted or knitted purse.

Simple Cards

I made this set of simple cards for a friend whose been so thoughtful to me during my surgery/recovery period! Wanted to let her know how much her kindness has meant to me! She's not the type to like "over the top" creations, so I kept them clean and simple.
There are two in each color scheme.
Here they are all bagged up pretty in my homemade glassine bag.

Supplies used:
  • Anna Griffin background stamp
  • Scripture stamps from Biblical Impressions
  • Wax Paper
  • Ribbon

Hair Decorations

My in-laws and husbands little sisters were here over Thanksgiving.  The girls and I didn't get a lot of time to "create" but we had fun in the little bit of time we did have.
They both LOVE trying new hairdos and  also enjoy creating new hair decorations to wear.
We recycled zippers/buttons/old jeans/ribbons to create the following: (+ quite a few more that I didn't get photographed before they left).

Christmas Clutches

Sharing 3 clutches I knitted for Christmas gifts using this free pattern on Ravelry
This one uses Homespun yarn....I like the look and feel of this "chunky" yarn.
This one uses Hometown USA yarn -- very think and a bit difficult to knit because of how heavy it is. I had to take breaks while knitting this one as it hurt my hands because of it's weight.
This one uses the I Love This Yarn brand and was my favorite to work with.  It was so easy to knit I could easily have made a clutch in one afternoon!
Here are the changes I made to the pattern to fit my preferences.
  • On the pink and teal ones -- I made the button hole smaller doing rows 5 and 6 like this:
    • knit 11 stitches, cast off 3, knit 11 stitches
    • knit 11 stitches, cast on 3, knit 11 stitches
  •  On the black one I increased the size (since the yarn was so thin) by:
    • Casting on 29 stitches
  •  I made the button hole smaller on this one as well by doing rows 5 and 6 like this:
    • knit 13 stitches, cast off 3, knit 13 stitches
    • knit 13 stitches, cast on 3, knit 13 stitches

Cluck Cluck

I love all things chicken and rooster and have had these cards on my "to do list" for some time.
I made them tags - but with a card on the back for writing on.
This set opens from the top
This set opens from the side
For this set I stamped my images on canvas and sewed them to a piece of kraft cardstock with red thread.
These are stamped on kraft cardstock and sewn to a piece of burlap using the zig zag stitch.
I've already given them away to a neighbor who was here and said how much she loved chickens....just couldn't help myself!
Supplies used:
  • Canvas
  • Burplap
  • Kraft/Red Cardstock
  •  Heart Paper Punch
  • Strips of Material
  • Eyelets
  • Sewing maching w/red thread
  • Rustic Rooster stamp set (Stampin' Up)

I also think they'd make nice "ornaments" on a country themed tree!

Masculine Happy Birthday

My daughter recently bought a small used cricut machine for $30.  She had seen my nieces and wanted one, so when the offer came she snatched it up.  I gave her a cricut cartridge (that I won on ebay) for her birthday, and she kindly gave her mother lessons on how to use it! (smile!)
SO.........here's my first "Cricut Card" -- using the "Give A Hoot" cartridge for everything but the sentiment and clouds.

Encouragement

These songs are running through my head this morning -- thought I'd share them with you!
The Solid Rock
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name
.

When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,

My anchor holds within the veil.

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne
.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
Edward Mote, c.1834

He Never Has Failed Me Yet
When I travel the pathway so rugged and steep,
When I pass thro’ the valley so dark and so deep,
And when snares for my soul by my foes have been set,
Jesus never has failed me yet.

So I walk by His side thro’ the heat of the day.
Where He leads me I follow; His will I obey.
And He makes me to conquer the ills that beset,
For He never has failed me yet.

Then I’ll dread not the future, and fear not the foe,
I am safe in His keeping wherever I go;
For no soul that has trusted Him will He forget,
For He never has failed me yet.

He never has failed me yet. He never has failed me yet.
I have proven Him true; what He says He will do.

Puppy Dog Birthday Party

Today my daughter turns 10 years old!
Hard to believe we're already into the double digits -- wish time would slow down a little!
Here's the puppy dog cake I made for her party last week!
I got the idea from this Martha Stewart cake (template here).
My daughter picked the menu -- chili (w/toppings), festive salad, cheese sandwiches, mini cornmeal muffins, and red velvet cake.

Here are the little tags I attached to party favors -- M & M's!
Puppies and Polk-a-dot napkins!
