Sea Collage

For this card I pulled out a bunch of sea themed stamps and  layered  them to make a collage style card.
I got the idea from this card (pinned to Pinterest).
If you've never tried masking before -- he's a great little tutorial to get you started.

Summer by the Sea

My sister-in-law was here all last week (enjoying her new grandson!), so we carved out a day to make cards together!
She brought the Stampin' Up set - Summer By The Sea - with her and kindly let me stamp a few to experiment with.
For these two cards I colored the popped up image with watercolor pencils, and then chalked a background to put it on.
It was fun scene building with a sailboat, sheep, and some fluffy clouds!
I also enjoyed mixing colors on both the watercolor and chalked parts!
Stop by the rest of the week to see some more sea-themed creations!
Supplies:
  • Watercolor pencils
  • Chalks
  • Stamps:
    • Mini Sheep Stamp (Hero Arts)
    • Summer by the Sea (Stampin' Up)
    • Biblical Impressions
    • Sailboat cut from The Montage Collection (PSX)
  • White flocking (clouds)
  • Embroidered Floral corner punch (Martha Stewart)
  • Kraft, Black, White Cardstock
  • Oval Scallop Nestabilities

Felt Potato Head Playset

Here's another playset I made -- this time with felt and in the form of Mr. Potato Head!

I found the free patterns here:
Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows
I sewed my felt pocket and background piece to scrapbook paper so I could use my comb binding machine to bind it into a book.
Here it is all closed up:

Noah's Ark Playset

Here's a Noah's Ark Playset I dreamed up as a gift for a little boy turning two!
Here are the steps I used to make this set:
1. Copy coloring pages to Word and re-size according to preference
2. Print images on canvas material
(With a piece of wide double sided tape attach canvas to cardstock before running through your printer -- like in this post)
3. Color with permanent markers or colored pencils
4. Layer canvas and a piece of felt -- sew around each piece before cutting out
5. Use fray check around the edges of each piece
6. Add glitter, flower soft, or flocking
Close up of the rainbow
My daughter thought it would be fun to make a pocket in the ark so our little friend can put his animals inside!
It also works nicely for a storage pocket for all the pieces when finished playing.
I paired the ark with two pretty animal books and...

a bag of animal cookies!
For a little different twist you could leave the ark/animals plain and gift it to an older child who could color it in themselves!
Here are the links to the coloring pages I used to make the ark:

Grandma's Baby

Here's the card I made my sister-in-law to celebrate her being a first time Grandma!!
I layered the saying over a picture of her new grandson and added froggie accents.
I also made her a "Brag Book" with the same photo on the cover
Inside:
I did all the pages in blues and greens with a white decorative center strip
Here's a free Word Art Printable of the saying for you to use on your own projects

More Recipes

Here are some more recipes I've tried (and enjoyed) lately!
(I do mine totally on the stove-top. Place chicken in a frying pan with butter, salt, pepper and cook till white on both side.  Sprinkle the minced garlic and brown sugar over top.  Put a lid on and fry [turning every 5 minutes or so] till the sauce "caramelizes" and chicken is done)

Felt Paper Dolls

I have lots of good reasons for being MIA of late, but the best reason of all is my new great nephew (pictured above) -- isn't he a doll?
I haven't had just loads of time for crafting, but I've managed to carve some out for making b-day gifts for nieces!
Here's the felt doll book I made a little niece turning 5 today!
I used the Sizzix paper doll dies to cut out dolls and felt accessories for her to play with over and over again.
The middle of the book has two dolls waiting for little Maddy to dress them up!
Here are all the boy things!
Hope she enjoys some happy hours of felt doll play this week!

Beach Cottage Room

Sharing pictures of my daughter's new "Beach Cottage Room."
Isn't it amazing how much a little bit of paint changes things?!
We did 3 walls white and one light blue accent wall.
I was going for a light, airy, vacation beach house feel ---- and that's exactly what it feels like everytime I walk in there.
We kept the decorations to a minimum -- keeping things plain and simple.
We found the lamp at a thrift store for $2 -- the sign at Goodwill, and a few things at Dollar General.

The same day we found the lamp we also found these shadow box frames (at another thrift store).
I used images from a couple Raspberry Roads digital kits (that were on sale at the time) to make the pictures in the frames.
I also made a sea themed wreath for one wall.
