Sunflower Wooden Sign

Here's a wooden sign I created for my Etsy shop
The sign is painted and sealed with a clear sealer.
After painting, I added burlap, fabric, lace, printed canvas, and buttons.
Easy to display on a table top with an easel or hanging among your decor by the twine hanger.

Baked Potato Soup

It's been a long time since I've shared any recipes on this blog.
It's not for lack of cooking or trying new things  -- most of the reason lies in the fact that it takes time to photograph the finished results and "the food is getting cold!" (smile)

Since fall is right around the corner (here in the U.S.A), my daughter and I have been in the mood for what we call "comfort food" i.e. chunky soup!

Here's a recipe I recently tried (and tweaked).
We all really enjoyed this filling soup.
Baked Potato Soup
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 stick butter
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 8 cups milk
  •  8 oz. sour cream
  • 1 bag (8 oz.) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 package bacon
  • 7-8 medium potatoes
  1. Fry bacon, crumble and set aside
  2. Peel, cube, boil potatoes till tender, and drain  (or use red potatoes and leave the peeling on)
  3. Saute the onion in the butter till well done
  4. Add flour
  5. Slowly whisk in milk
  6. Add salt, pepper, (to taste) and sour cream bring to a boil
  7. Add potatoes and 1/2 the cheese
  8. Simmer till cheese is melted
  9. Garnish with remaining cheese and bacon
OPTIONAL: You can make this a Ham and Potato Soup by omitting the  bacon and adding ham chunks instead. We like it both ways!
ENJOY!

Scripture Art

I made this framed Scripture Art for a sweet friend's birthday last week.
(Like the bowls from yesterday's post) this was another piece that I really didn't want to give away once I'd completed it.
I am planning to make another one (or two) like it for the Etsy shop sometime in the future.

If you'd like to make some Scripture Art of your own you can use this free printable I created

Painted Bowls

I finally got around to painting and distressing my wooden bowls.
(The bowls originally looked like the one below)
I had intended to sell these in my Etsy shop - BUT....
....once I stacked them up in my kitchen for a photo, I decided to keep them!
Maybe I'll find some more to alter later on --

These cute little "buttons" are made from salt dough.
They're painted, sealed, and tied with thread.
Perfect for adding around candles or by themselves in a wooden bowl!

Sunflower Pillow Tucks

Here are two sunflower pillow tucks I created for my Etsy shop.
The pillows are made of canvas - stamped with a script stamp and...
embellished with a handmade sunflower.
I'm pleased that they turned out even cuter than I had imagined they might!

School Mini Album

I added this school themed mini album to the Etsy shop yesterday
The pages are full of vintage school themed embelishments
(These are not in any particular order)

Great for parents, teachers, or grandparents!

Keep those special memories in a pretty little scrapbook!

Interactive pages with envelopes that open, fan-out flashcards, and removable items.
Now that summer is winding down, maybe I'll get back to some crafting soon!
