Glassine Bag Envelope

Today’s project (for the CropStop blog) is a Glassine Bag that I decorated to use as a fancy envelope for my card.  Since the envelope features so many embellishments, I kept the card inside very simple.
Here’s the recipe for making this pretty Valentine Set: I started with a Glassine Bag and covered the front in a page from an old dictionary. Across the top I layered some brown lace from my stash, dark coral colored lace from the Petaloo set called Paprika, a length of natural colored twine tied in a bow, and one small button.
To decorate the bottom of my bag I used the Journal Cards embossing folder from Couture Creations and inked it up with Abandoned Coral & Ground Espresso Tim Holtz Distress Inks. I cut it out and layered it on a piece of coral cardstock, using a corner round punch on both pieces. I distressed the edges with a pair a scissors (see tip below).
To the right I added a hand cut heart embossed with the Victoria embossing folder from Cuttlebug, a die cut sentiment from Momento, and another beautiful Petaloo bloom! A tiny strip of burlap (like the kind found in my Red Sampler Pack) is decorated with a strip of pretty white pearls and adds the perfect touch to the front of my bag envelope.
For the CAS card I crimped the kraft panel with my Fiskars crimper and added an embossed doily (Tim Holtz Alterations Sizzix), white heart doily and die cut sentiment also from Sizzix.
Two tips for you today: 1. Use a q-tip to coloring the tiny areas of alternate color on an embossing folder like this. 2. To created a distressed edge on your project: Open your scissors and scrape them along the side of your cardstock.

Well how fun!!! I love that you used the glassine envelope, and I also love the colors you chose. Non-traditional for a Valentine card. Great take on the challenge, thanks so much for playing along with us this week over at Mod Squad.
