Home Sweet Home

Today I'm sharing a card that was inspired by several of my favorite challenges. Unfortunately, I didn't get it finished in time to enter two of the link ups! Oh well....I'll link it to the other two! (smile)
I stamped all my images on watercolor paper and embossed them with midnight black embossing powder. I masked off the background and using distress inks, I watercolored grass and sky as well as the little scene I wished to highlight. To make my middle house a little more fun, I added a fence with teeny tiny flowers and a burlap string wreath to the door.
Supplies and Tools:
Outdoor Fun (Fiskars), Distress Inks (Mowed Lawn, Pine Needles, Twisted Citron, Rusty Hinge, Salty Ocean, Broken China, Hickory Smoke), Watercolor Paper, Fence border punch (Martha Stewart), Versamark Watermark, Black embossing powder (Zing), Lace Border punch (Martha Stewart), heart punch, burlap string

Sunflower Side-Step

A friend came over last week to make cards and wanted to try the side step technique. Here's a fall card I created using Heartfelt Creations sunflowers and some Word Art Wednesday Scripture art.
I stamped my sunflowers on watercolor paper and embossed them in copper embossing powder.
I colored the flowers with Distress Crayons, blending the hues together with a damp finger. Here's the colors I used from lightest to darkest: Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Fossilized Amber, Rusty Hinge.  The center is lightly colored over with Vintage Photo Distress Crayon.

Supplies and tools:
Watercolor Paper, Sunflower Stamps (Heartfelt Creations), Versamark Watermark ink, Copper Embossing Powder (Zing), Distress Crayons (Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Fossilized Amber, Rusty Hinge, Vintage Photo, Twisted Citron, Peeled Paint, Pine Needles), Word Art Wednesday Scripture Art, Script Background Stamp (Stampin Up), Walnut Stain Distress Ink, Lace, Burlap String, Button

The Presence of Wonder

Today I'm sharing a collage style autumn card that I tried to create in a CAS design.
I just can't seem to pull off the "lots of white space" needed to be truly CAS - but this card isn't quite as layered as I usually make so maybe it's kind of clean-and-simple?
I stamped off my background stamp before printing it on my cream cardstock, and then added a layer of leaves around the edge with different colors of distress ink. (Looks like distressed [and inked] edges are becoming my signature style!)
Supplies and Tools:
Script Background Stamp (Stampin' Up), Fantastic Foliage (Stampin' Up) Distress Inks (Walnut Stain, Rusty Hinge, Fossilized Amber, Fired Brick, Pine Needles), Sponge Daubers. Burlap String, Frond Punch (Martha Stewart), Spiced Marmalade Distress Crayon, Watercolor Stamp Set (Tim Holtz), Copper Embossing Powder

A is for Apple

There are several challenges that have apples as part of their link up requirements.  Since I don't have a lot of apple themed supplies, I decided to create a flashcard that I'm including as a freebie at the end of this post.
After embossing the leaf background, I rubbed my white pigment ink pad over the top to help the design stand out a little more.
Supplies and Tools:
Apple Flashcard, Script Background Stamp (Stampin Up), Walnut Stain Distress Ink, Baker's Twine, Button, Leaf Embossing Folder (The Paper Studio), White Pigment Ink, Hello Doily Die (Sizzix), Washi Tape

For a FREE printable of the apple flashcard CLICK HERE or visit my FREEBIES page.

Fall Thinking Of You

The card I'm sharing today includes a hue not usually included in the "fall colors," but I keep seeing it crop up in autumn cards this year.
I love how the addition of blue adds the perfect accent to the traditional seasonal colors.
I find that using papers from the same mat stack makes it easier to coordinate the colors, and I love how the leaves turned out when stamped on designer paper.
Supplies and Tools:
Leaves Galore (Inkadinkado), Watercolor Paper, Ground Espresso Distress Ink, Nature's Sketchbook (Stampin' Up), Martha Stewart Border Punch, Knitted Embossing Folder (Couture Creations), Thoughts and Prayers (Stampin' Up), Doily Embossing Folder (Sizzix), Mosaic Memories DP (Recollections)

Autumn Chinese Lanterns

Today I'm sharing a fall card made with Power Poppy's Chinese Lantern Digital Stamp Set.

I printed my image on Kraft Cardstock and colored it with Prismacolor Pencils.  It looked a little plain, so I added a background with a script stamp and some walnut stain distress ink.

I love the vintage/rustic look the distressed (and inked) edges give the finished piece. Inside I added a piece of Washi Tape and a sentiment (from Power Poppy) that I reversed for a chalkboard look.

Supplies and tools:
Chinese Lanterns Digi (Power Poppy), Prismacolor Pencils, Script Stamp (Stampin' Up), Walnut Stain Distress Ink, Sponge Daubers, Square punch (to make banner), Burlap String, Button, Washi Tape, Sentiment from Leaping Trout Digital Stamp Set (Power Poppy), Kraft/Orange/Black Cardstock

DIY Mini Album

Today I have something a little different to share with you....a handmade mini album! The method I used is fairly versatile in that you can make it any size you like, with as many pages as you need, and create anything from a smash book to a mini scrapbook album. Since I was in need of a new "birthday book" I made each two page layout into a monthly calendar to keep track of special days.
To view a step by step tutorial for creating this little book, visit the Cropstop blog today.
If you'd like to make your own "special dates" book, I also included a free zip file on the Cropstop blog.
Just a little tip: Using a paper stack takes "all the work" out of picking papers - they all coordinated and match perfectly because they all come from the same paper pack!
Supplies and Tools:
Mosaic Memories Paper Stack (Recollections), Grey Burlap Flower (Canvas Corp), Burlap Trim (Petaloo), Teastained Flower (Petaloo), Burlap String, Canvas Fabric, ATG gun, Cardboard, Kraft Cardstock, Scallop Tags #2 die (Sizzix), Biblical Impressions stamps, Ground Espresso Distress Ink, Small Flower Punch, Pearls, Blossom Trim Punch (Martha Stewart)
