Your Biggest Fan

Here's another Power Poppy post. This one was inspired by Leslie's "make your own envelope " technique.  I used one of the images from the Va-Va Valentines digital stamp set (Power Poppy) as the main feature. I think it would make a fun kids birthday card...especially with the matching envelope!

I colored my image with Prismacolor Pencils and added just a bit of glitter to the fan blades to make them sparkle.

Woodland Fairy

It's time for our Wednesday challenge over at The House That Stamps Built.

This week we have an inspiration board for you.
This challenge is a fun cross between a photo challenge and a color challenge. You can choose to be inspired by the colors, the photograph, or both!

I chose to be inspired by both sides of the board this month -- the rocks and the colors.
Here's how I created my card:
  • I stamped 1712-P, By the Stream in Versamark Watermark ink on watercolor paper, added black embossing powder, and heat set it
  • Using my Sonnet Watercolors, I colored my scene
  • I cut a large circle (Circle Nestabilities - Spellbinders) in a piece of dark blue card stock and matted my scene behind it
  • I cut a large scallop circle (nestabilities - Spellbinders), cut out the center, and used it to frame my scene
  • I stamped 1507-J, Grass Border in Pine Needles Distress ink (Ranger) across the bottom of my card front
  • I die cut the sentiment from the Hello Doily Die Set (Sizzix)
  • I punched a butterfly trim border (Martha Stewart) and fussy cut two butterflies to add to my scene
  • The fairy is from Frantic Stamper (Fairy and Flower) and is paper pieced
    • I added two extra sets of wings - one in vellum and one in white card stock
  • To complete my scene I added some purple glitter (Studio G) flowers to the grass and also to the meadow scene

  • For my blog readers: Enjoy the 10% discount code to the Repeat Impressions Store posted on the sidebar

Watermellon Juice

Today I have a super fun project to share with you! I used Graciellie's newest release (Happiness) to create a tag for a pillow box gift. Don't you just love the fun jar of watermelon juice and all the happy sentiments to go with it?!

To create my project I:
  • traced and cut out my pillow box using a template from Mirkwood Designs
  • splattered distress ink (pine needles/worn lipstick/candied apple) over my white box before assembling
  • wrapped a piece of white lace around the bottom of my box
  • wrapped a piece of crimped white cardstock around the middle
  • punched a piece of red cardstock with a Martha Stewart deep edge punch and wrapped it around the white crimped piece
  • colored my jar of watermelon juice with Prismacolor Pencils and added glitter and a sentiment
  • wrapped green baker's twine around the box long-ways and tied it through the juice jar tag

Sweet Friend

I'm really enjoying the Power Poppy Inspire Me Challenge this month! I have a looooooong lists of bookmarks from their inspiration posts -- things I want to try. We'll see how many I get accomplished this month.  Today I'm trying Julie's Sentiments in the Spotlight.

To create this card I:
  • embossed a piece of kraft card stock with the 3D Lumber embossing folder (Tim Holtz)
    • inked the wood panels with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink (Ranger)
    • cut the panel into wood planks and distressed the edges
    • glued my planks to a piece of red card stock
  • printed a sentiment and the strawberry image from Juicy Strawberries Digital Stamp Set (Power Poppy)
    • colored my image with Prismacolor Pencils and added Red Stickles to my strawberries
    • fussy cut the strawberries and leaves and one set of strawberry blooms
  • die cut and matted my sentiment with the Cirlce/Scallop Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders)
  • arranged my strawberries cluster to the left of my sentiment, popping up some pieces with mounting tape

Masculine Spinner

Today's card features something I've never tried before - a spinner.  I used the Leaping Trout digital stamp set (Power Poppy) to create this fun masculine card.

To create this cards I:
  • embossed a piece of kraft card stock with the Lumber 3D embossing folder (Tim Holtz) and inked it up with ground espresso distress ink (Ranger)
    • note: since this is a wide card I had to emboss it twice and cut the boards into strips before adhering them to my kraft card base
  • I die cut the center with a circle nestabilities from Spellbinders
    • I die cut a black frame with the scallop circle nestabilities (Spellbinders) and glued it around the outside of my cut out
  • I printed the trout (both regular and reversed) and colored it with my Prismacolor Pencils
    • I fussy cut both trout and glued them back to back with a piece of burlap string in between them
  • I inverted a sentiment from Leaping Trout and printed it on kraft card stock -- distressing the edges before adding it to the corner of my card front
  • I created two copper brads with Versamark Watermark ink and copper embossing powder
