Forest Silhouette

It's time for our Wednesday challenge over at The House That Stamps Built. This week the theme is --- ANYTHING GOES!
I've created a lot of multi-layered, 3D cards this month, so I thought it would be nice to do something a little more CAS this week.
(Note: Because I'm a "frugal" person who tries not to spend loads of money on craft supplies, I don't own a Misti Stamping Platform. To make my deer dark enough, I used my teammate, Heather's, excellent tutorial for creating silhouettes. As you can see - it worked wonderfully!)

To create this card I:
  • Sponged Black Soot Distress ink onto the bottom of my Watercolor Paper
  • Sponged Fired Brick/Wild Honey/ Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide onto the top portion of my paper - masking off the moon with a circle (Circle Nestabilities - Spellbinders)
  • Stamped the following Repeat Impressions Stamps in Tuxedo Black ink (Memento)
  • Die cut two Happy Birthday sentiments using the Phrase Set One dies from Spellbinders
    • glued them together and sponged Fired Brick/Wild Honey Distress Oxide over them
  • Die cut a tree (Birch Trees Die from Impression Obsession) and added it to the left side of the card

  • For my blog readers: Enjoy the 10% discount code to the Repeat Impressions Store posted on the sidebar
  • There's a new challenge every week over at  The House That Stamps Built
    • you don't have to use Repeat Impressions stamps to link or win
  • One lucky person will win a $25 Repeat Impressions Gift Certificate on the first Wednesday of every month

Mini 3D Flowers

Hello crafty friends! Two weeks ago  I shared a card with a large 3D sunflower on it. I thought it would be fun to try making mini 3D flowers as well, so here's a fun fall card I made using Repeat Impressions stamps.

To create my card I:
  • Embossed a piece of white card stock with the sunburst embossing folder from Darice
  • Sponged Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade distress ink (Ranger) over the embossing
  • Stamped 629-I, Mountain Vista and 2719-K, Lg Pine Tree over the sponging in Black Soot Distress Ink (Ranger)
  • Scored a piece of kraft card stock (Martha Stewart scoring board) every 1/2 inch
    • to create the double lines I slightly offset the original scoring and scored again
    • inked my background with Walnut Stain Distress Oxide (Ranger)
  • Die cut a window using the Window Two die from Spellbinders
    •  inked it with Gathered Twigs distress ink (Ranger)

Next I:
  • Created a collage of flowers and leaves using the Fall Foliage Die set (Sizzix - Tim Hotlz) and the Meadowbird Branch die set (Memory Box)
    • Using sponge daubers, I inked all the leaves and vines with distress inks
  • For a mini tutorial on how I created the 3D flower using 10307-H, Patti's Flower Outline, visit today's post on The House That Stamps Built
All the Repeat Impressions Stamps I used on this card are 20% for one week only. Visit their blog for the shopping code.

Autumn Coffee

It's time for our Wednesday challenge over at The House That Stamps Built. This week we have an inspiration board for you. This challenge is a fun cross between a photo challenge and a color challenge. You can choose to be inspired by the colors, the photograph, or both! I love this week's selection -- and chose to be inspired by the photo of coffee and sunflowers!

To create my happy little coffee shaped card I:
  • cut a coffee cup shaped card (using the free template below) out of white card stock and inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink (Ranger)
    • cut the lid and wrapper from kraft card stock
    • inked the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink (Ranger)
    • ran the wrapper through my Fiskars paper crimper
  • stamped 2826-H, Let Us... on the lid in Ground Espresso Distress Ink (Ranger) and glued it to the top flap of my card
  • created an autumn collage on my wrapper using the following Repeat Impressions Stamps:
  • All the stamped pieces where inked with Fossilized Amber/Spiced Marmalade/Walnut Stain Distress Ink (Ranger)
  • I added some brown (Studio G) glitter to the center of my layered sunflower
  • The extra vines are die cut from the Funky Flowers #1 thinlits (Sizzix - Tim Holtz) and Meadowbird Branch dies (Memory Box)
