This is my Father's world:
The birds their carols raise,
The morning light, the lily white,
Declare their Maker's praise.
This is my Father's world:
He shines in all that's fair;
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass,
He speaks to me everywhere.
I finally got brave enough to try hymnal journaling in this old hymnal I bought at a yard sale last year. I have to admit it's a little scary since it's in a book and you can't just discard the page and start over if you mess up or don't like something. This may end up being my first and last page as it's harder than it looks! lol
Today's page features products from Creative Worship Stamps. I started by prepping my page with a layer of clear gesso since I wanted to be able to move the colors of my flowers around. I stamped the flowers and leaves (masking off to create layers) in Versafine Clair Nocturen Ink and colored them with Arteza Real Brush Pens. The stenciled design was added using distress oxide ink and then I splattered the page using diluted black acrylic paint. I finished off the page with a tag and die cut butterfly.

Don't give up, this is a wonderful idea and one that may inspire you in ways that will strengthen your walk with the Lord...reading and worshiping God as you work on each page. 🥰
That is a neat idea to use a hymnal, I have an old one from the church I grew up in. I have never tried working on gesso before, but I will have to say your results look fantastic!
Oh WOW! I don't think I'd be brave enough to try this ... especially with that particular hymn. It happens to be one that my Mother & I would sing as a duet in church. Actually I haven't sung it since she passed 6 years ago. Thanks for the sweet memory of her & our time together in church choir.
You did a beautiful job but I can understand what you're saying about how difficult it must be if you were to make a mistake. But you know what they say in the crafting world ... there are NO mistakes, just happy accidents lol. Thanks so much for joining in the fun at our Triple B challenge! Good Luck and we hope you’ll come back often.
