My sister-in-law told me about a new technique, and left me this card as an example of it. Supplies:
1. Glossy Paper (I used glossy photo paper)
2. Stamp of your choice
3. Ink Pad (a "juicy" one works best)
Ink your stamp with ink and stamp on glossy paper....without lifting it off the paper swirl the stamp in a circle.
Repeat as desired
Allow to dry and stamp your picture/sentiment in black ink (embossing it makes it pop) over your new background.
I think she said she used a sea shell on this card to create the swirled/colored background behind the sea shell stamp.
I tried the technique (below) with a circle stamp.
