Sanctify Them

"Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth." John 17:17

Sanctify = to consecrate, to set apart, to purify, to make holy

The original meaning of the word "sanctify" is: "to set apart for one sacred purpose."

  • inanimate objects in the O.T. were sanctified for use in the tabernacle and later the temple
  • Jesus "sanctified himself" (vs.19)
When the one purpose of my life is to be holy, it will affect every other area of my life. Instead of living a me-centered life, God will be at the center of every decision I make. I won't need to find my identity in the things the world values: wealth, prestige, and power. Instead, Christlikeness will be at the top of my priority list.

Truth = free from deceit, falsehood, and pretense

In order to know what is true and understand the way God wants me to live; I need to read His Word.  As I study it and apply it to my life; it will purify me and change the way I think and live.

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness," 2 Timothy 3:16

⭐Thought to ponder: Do I actively seek truth and allow it to change me, or am I satisfied with my current level of living and understanding?

Our Pastor preached on this same subject yesterday, I love the text on the background with the books, the gears and keys are a neat touch!
