Trust in the Lord

I have another faith dex card to share with you today about some verses that I keep coming back to over and over in life. At times I've quoted them in faith to a friend, and other times my doubting heart has whispered them in silent prayer, "Lord didn't you say..."

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5,6

Trust = to have confidence in, to believe in, to rely on

Sometimes when...life doesn't make sense, my prayers are met with silence, anxieties overwhelm me, or I've waited a long time and still don't have any answers; my faith begins to waver. In those times, it helps to remember who it is I've put my trust in:

  • The Creator of the Universe (Colossians 1:16)
  • A Good Shepherd (John 10:11)
  • My Savior (John 3:16)
  • A Father (Galatians 4:6)
  • The Sovereign Lord (Colossians 1:16–17)
  • The All-Powerful One (Job 26:7-14)
  • Loving Father (Luke 12:6-7)
  • Merciful Lord (Psalm 145:8-9)
  • My Provider (Philippians 4:19)

He is wise enough to know what is best for me, and He leads with gentleness and love. His timing is perfect, and his strength can be relied on.

Leaning = implies putting your whole weight on

My own intellect is not sturdy enough to "put my whole weight on."

  • I look at things from an earthly perspective; God sees them from an eternal point of view.
  • I want to be comfortable; God wants me to be conformed to His image.
  • I choose easy; God chooses character building.
  • I think I need answers today; God knows I need patience.
  • I'd like a pain-free life; God wants to teach me compassion and empathy.
  • I chase happiness; God sees I could use more humility and holiness.

💗Wise people are willing to listen and be corrected by God's Word, and they go to it for counsel and direction.

Thought to ponder: What areas of my life am I still trusting in my own wisdom and not relinquishing control to God?

Beautiful, lovely coloring of the flowers and I love the background papers and banners with it. Yes when times are very hard and you feel like you have waited for ever it is easy to try to figure things out on our own, instead of waiting on his timing.
