When I saw the crocheted birds nest (made from strips of material) and the Tuffy Bird Family in the newest issue of Crafts n' Things (a V-day gift from my dh) - I mentally put it on my "things to do list." My living room is decorated in blues and yellows with birds, bird-houses, flowers etc....so it looks like it was "made with me in mind." Here's a link to the free pattern for the birds on the Crafts n' Things website. [If you're planning to make the little baby birds - make sure you're well stocked on patience! :) ]
Here's a closer view of my bird/nest sitting on the shelf.
BTW - That cross stitch in the top picture is one I did about 8 or more years ago when cross stitch was my main hobby. It has a lot of detail work and was done on 18 count Aida cloth --- after I finished I "vowed" I'd never use that small of a count again! It was worth it though, as you can hardly tell I even used Aida cloth - looks almost like linen (not quite - but almost).

Very cute! Even something this size looks like a bit of a "patience tester" to me. :) Great job!
Actually this wasn't hard to do at all - it was very easy to do.....and fun too!
Was there a pattern for the nest? So adorable. The cross stitch is beautiful, too.
Yes Pam, there was a pattern for the crocheted nest in the magazine.....just not a free one on-line (to my knowledge).
