It's time for our Wednesday challenge over at The House That Stamps Built. This week we have an inspiration board for you. This challenge is a fun cross between a photo challenge and a color challenge. You can choose to be inspired by the colors, the photograph, or both! I was inspired by the slice of watermelon!!
To create my slice of watermelon I die cut two circles (one slightly bigger than the other) from mix media paper and cut them into a watermelon wedge shape. I inked the smallest one in picked raspberry and candied apple ink and used a hand-drawn stencil to put the seeds on. I then masked off the larger one (to leave a white space) and inked the bottom in lucky clover ink. Easy and fun!
Supplies and Tools:
- Repeat Impression Stamp
- Canson Mix Media Paper
- Ornate Ovals Dies (Divinity Designs)
- Doily Die (Sizzix - Tim Holtz)
- Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders)
- Brilliance Moonlight White Ink (Tsukineko)
- These colors of Distress Oxide (Ranger)
- Picked Raspberry
- Candied Apple
- Lucky Clover
- Black Soot

love, love, love the dark background and how it highlights the sentiment!
Fabulous card, like how your created a watermelon and the dark background is perfect!
Esther, this is such a brilliant card! I love the bold pop of red against the black and white. And the way you inked the watermelon is spot on; I could take a big bite of that right now! Happy July!
How creative to make your watermelon, very creative and the shading is great. The black/whit strip background goes perfect with this image.
Great summer time card, very clever way to make the watermelon piece, love your doily and striped background!
I really like the background on this and the addition of the lacey doily. Fun take on the photo inspiration challenge.
How fun! You really did a great job coloring the watermelon slice with the different layers of color. This one is so different than your scrappy card, but still fabulous. Thanks for playing along with my theme challenge. Hope to see you again!
This is lovely. Thanks for joining us at UYS
You are so clever, Esther! Love your hand crafted watermelon - makes me hungry! Think I'll head to the fruit stand - thanks for enabling me!!!
