Welcome back to the first challenge of 2023 at The Card Concept.
Today's challenge is: Holiday Gatherings
Everyone is welcome to play along using the colors, the theme,
textures, items, or just anything from the picture as your starting point.
I was inspired by the greenery and stars when I created my mixed media card.
I love creating weathered wood backgrounds from cereal boxes, and this time I used gray and white paint. (Click here for instructions.) I used mixed media paper for my flower die cuts, kraft for the pine cones and stars, and green for the pine branches. I added color and depth using distress inks and waterbrush pens.
Supplies and tools:
- Into the Blooms: Dahlia Die (Papertrey Ink)
- Holiday Brushstroke 2 (Sizzix - Tim Holtz)
- Star Dies Set (SnSS affiliate link)
- Blessings/Beatitudes 1 (Stamp Simply)
- Lisette Oval Shadowbox Frame dies (Spellbinders)
- Arteza Real Brush Pens
- Cardboard
- Vellum
- White Pearl
- White and Gray Acrylic Paint
- These colors of Distress Ink (Ranger)
- Vintage Photo, Rustic Wilderness, Gathered Twigs, Walnut Stain

Beautiful, I love your wood backgrounds too, your flower is lovely and I like how you used pinecones and the greenery with it, great idea to use stars and greenery to balance it out!
I love all of the layers on here! What a beautiful card. Thank you for joining us at A Place to Start. :)
