The inspiration for these cards came from a card on nicole heady's blog....here.
I really liked the plane stamp she used -- but I learned a long time ago that you simply can't buy everything! So I usually try to find a free substitute (in this case a coloring page).
I flipped the image and made my own version of her card, actually two different versions!
The first one is a case of the one I linked to.
This one is a little less "fun" and a little more "sophisticated."
This second one is for my brother-in-law's birthday (next month) -- he's a pilot in AK.
Supplies used:
- Free coloring page (here)
- Embossing Folders:
- Houndstooth (Provo Craft) - used on the red one
- Candy Cane Stripe (Provo Craft) - used on the black one
- Stamps
- Script
- The Journey (Tim Holtz)
- Distinctively Classice
- Bind-it-all for faux notebook page edge
- White Felt
- Brown Chalk
- over the red houndstooth embossing
- Glitters
- Red
- Silver

Esther: You are my HERO of making do with what you already have to re-create a technique. Great job on this one. And....I totally get what you mean about "not being able to buy everything". I would LOVE to own everything at PTI (and several other shops), but we all know that's just not going to happen. Thank you for showing me so many times how to "make it work" SO creatively. I know I tell you a lot how creative you are, and I REALLY mean it. You are an inspiration and a blessing to me! Thanks for sharing this in our challenge, too.

These cards just soar! Love the border you've given the scripted panel and the clouds are fun to!
Nostalgi plus plus. What a clever idea. I have that free digi and was planning on making a card in memory of my Grandfather. You have spurred me on with that lovely card.
Thank you for joining us at Word Art Wednesday.

The Blessing of the LORD be Upon You!
I like both versions, but the second one is definitely my favorite. Thanks for sharing at WAW. Blessings!
Such great cards! Love the vintage look of them. Thank you for sharing the coloring page, as I have a friend who builds planes and this would be a great image to use for his birthday this year!
Love your design and the colors are vibrant. Love the scribbles on the papers. Is that a designer paper of you stamped those scribbles? If so, it's great! Thanks for blessing us with your project today at Word Art Wednesday. Hugs, always!

Love how you always look for a cheaper alternative. You've helped me so many times because I can use what I have.
You did a fantastic job of matching up the image! You're so good at that.
I love the cards - they are perfect for men!
