Vintage Receipt Holder

Today I want to share with you a fun way to create your own home decor pieces using a Mix The Media Receipt Holder.  “Back in the day store owners would tuck receipts behind these metal holders to keep track of their customer’s purchases. We prefer to add our photos, findings, ATC cards or whatever inspires us to these clever “receipt holders”.
Fashioned from metal for an authentic feel and can be hung by the attached chain, these quickly become a one-of-a-kind home display in minutes!

I chose to decorate mine in a vintage style using botanical and bird elements. Instead of telling you exactly how I put each collage together, I’m simply going to list the items I included.
 1. Flower Tag 2. Rolled rose jumbo paper clip 3. Vintage dictionary page 4. Ephemera from the Tim Holtz Thrift Shop set 5. Free botanical print from the Graphics Fairy 6. DIY cardboard button  on free printable journal card (Sweet Life) 7. Mis. buttons 8. Denim Washi tape
 1. Receipt 2. Watercolor Robins Egg Nest (Printable from Creative Cain Cabin) 3. Die cut envelope (with My Favorite Things Envelope Die.), 4. Ephemera from the Tim Holtz Thrift Shop set 5. Decorative paper clip 6. Coffee Stained Paper 7. Petaloo Flower
 1. Homemade Barnwood background (I’ll have to do a tutorial on this soon!) 2. Bird card 3. Washi tape 4. Mini clothespin 5. Ticket 6. Baker’s Twine 7. Egg Printable from Graphics Fairy 8. Wooden Button 9. Metal Charm 10. Paper Doily 11. Lace
 1. Music Background die cut with Labels One Spellbinders Nestabilities 2. Postcard Stamp (Hampton Art) 3. Key 4. Baker’s Twine 5. Rolled Rose (Sizzix 3D Flower die and Martha Stewart frond punch) 6. Bird Printable from rebecca’s misc. 7. Metal Frame 8. Ephemera from the Tim Holtz Thrift Shop set 9. Mini flower card 10. Washi tape

All the stamping and inking was done with Vintage Photo Distress Ink . The edges were inked using the Tim Holtz Ink Applicator, and distressed with the Tonic Studios Paper Distresser.

There are endless possibilities for decorating these vintage looking Receipt Holders – don’t be surprised if you see this one again made over in a new theme, decorated for a holiday, or maybe even holding some handmade cards from friends! Stop by Cropstop and order yours today and then come back and link up your creativity to the CURRENT CHALLENGE!

These are so beautiful. I love all the elements you incorporated on each of them. Thank you for blessing us with your artwork here at Word Art Wednesday. Please join us again soon. Leaving you with the inspiration of the Scripture in Jeremiah 17:7 which says, “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord."
