Sweet Simple Things

Power Poppy's challenge this month is "black and white with a pop of color." I have several digital stamp sets from them that haven't seen ink, and this is one of my favorites. I decided to print it off and try my hand at this month's theme.

By changing up the framing, I created two similar but slightly different summer cards. This first one is framed entirely by the vine die cuts and the one below has a few vines and the frame turned sideways.

I added some extra dimension to the vines by applying faux stitching with a white gel pen.

I printed "Sweet Simple Things" on watercolor paper and colored it in with prismacolor pencils. After blending, I added a few highlights with watercolor markers.

Supplies and Tools:
Dies: Romantic Vines (Spellbinders), Sentiments Five (Spellbinders), Square Die
Ink: Prismacolor Pencils, Watercolor Markers, White Gel Pen
Stamps: "Sweet Simple Things" (Power Poppy)

Very striking cards, Esther! Bee-utiful coloring on those images and the design is just so eye catching! Your 'stitching' is a detail that makes these cards even more special! Love these! Thank you for your very sweet comment on my seashells and invitation to join Crop Stop's May challenge. I will be sure to do that with my next completed project. I feel like the shells are not really a complete project by themselves. I had to whip up that tutorial on short notice, and didn't have time to make a project, too. Hugs! Sara Emily

What a cool set of cards!! I just love the faux stitching along with that great dsp, what a perfect combination for that great image! Thanks for letting me know about the Crop Stop, but I didn't think back linking would be a good idea. I will keep the challenge in mind for the next time though :)

Gorgeous! I am extremely jealous of the stitching on the vines, as my hands will not allow me to do those tiny details anymore. That delicate striped background makes everything look amazing.
