The Great Outdoors

Today's Challenge (over on The House that Stamps Built) is Designer's Choice, and Heather picked "The Great Outdoors" as our theme for this week.

To create my fishing themed card I:
  • Inked up 2709-I, Large Pine Forest in Mowed Lawn Distress Ink and bounced my Pine Needles ink pad over parts of it for a two tone look
    • I inked the tree trunks with Gathered Twigs - spritzed the whole thing with water and stamped it on my kraft cardstock
    • I repeated this process to create a continuous forest across my card front
  • Using sponge daubers, I sponged Broken China Distress Oxide  into the sky and Mowed Lawn Distress Ink into the grass
  • I trimmed my panel and mounted it on dark green card stock

For the fish panel I:
  • Stamped 2909-H, Rainbow Trout in Tuxedo Black Ink (Memento) on water color paper
    • Colored my image with Prismacolor Pencils and fussy cut it
    • The fish is raised off the card with mounting tape
  • Cut a piece of cream card stock to size, masked off the edges with painters tape, and sponged on Antique Linen Distress Ink
    • Distressed the edges and mounted it on dark green card stock with coordinating distressed edges

To finish off my card I:
  • Scored a piece of kraft card stock (Martha Stewart scoring board) every 1/2 inch
    • rubbed Walnut Stain and Gathered Twigs Distress ink over it to create a wood plank look
  •  Glued a small twig to the lefts side of the card and attached some natural colored burlap string for a fishing line
  • Added two small gold brads to the top right corner

  • For my blog readers: Enjoy the 10% discount code to the Repeat Impressions Store posted on the sidebar

This card is fabulous!! I've never noticed this image before, and I'm sure I wouldn't have wanted it if I had, but after seeing your card I'm thinking . . . hmmm . . . that's a cool fish! : )

Oh Wow - this would be a perfect card for my hubby - he is a trout fisherman and a darn good one at that. We always have fish in our freezer. Love all the eye candy - especially the twig.
