Time Out Challenge - Retro

I'm so excited to be guest designing on the Time Out Challenge blog this month. The challenge for the next two week is "Reto" with the optional twist of "One Layer." This challenge is sponsored by Sarah Gray's online shop Funky Fossil Designs. The winner will receive 3 stencils from her store.

One layer isn't easy for me, but I think I came pretty close on this one! Since I knew this card would post on Valentine's Day - I couldn't resist adding a few tiny red hearts to one of my typewriters.

Here's how I put my card together:

  • stamped the Typewriter (Stampabilities) in Black Soot Distress Oxide (Ranger) across my card front three times
  • stamped the sentiment using Studio G Alphabet Stamps
  • stamped stitching lines using the Stitches Set from Bo Bunny
  • stamped three tiny hearts (Feelin' Foxy - Honeybee Stamps) in Fired Brick/Candied Apple Distress Oxide (Ranger)
  • added splatters using water diluted Black Soot DO and a small paintbrush
  • distressed the edges of my card panel with an open pair of scissors and glued it to my black card front

We are over the moon to have you as GD and with this amazing card. It really is 'retro' with the special twist of the hearts-they really pop. Love you distressed the edges for the retro look and the splatters are a cool idea too...like the ink has splashed over. Congrats for being GD and we just love your card x

Thanks for the compliment! When I saw your card I gave myself a tab on the head; I could have made it a bit easier for me and try to come up with a card that would be a nice... But your card is striking; not to CAs and has such a fun retro image! Thank you for being Guest Designer at TIME OUT! (Hope to see more of your beautiful work in the gallery...

The distressed edges are the perfect finish. It has been a joy to have you designing with us for this challenge! Thanks for joining us and contributing such great art!
