It's Cake Time

Here's a bright and fun birthday card I created with Gracie's new "It's Cake Time" digital stamp set.

Ok, so tell me I'm not the only one to complete a card -- look at it for a little bit --- and then rip it all back apart and start over?! Below you'll see the first (well actually my second) attempt at using this image. Problem was: I really wanted the cake image to stand out, but with all the other colorful elements, it didn't. So.....do any of you have to try more than once to "get it right?"

Supplies and Tools:

  • It's Cake Time (Graciellie Design)
  • Prismacolor Pencils
  • White Liquid Pearls
  • Mounting Tape
  • Polka Dot Embossing Folder (The Paper Studio)
  • Phrase Two Dies (Spellbinders)
  • Worn Lipstick / Black Soot Distress Oxide (Ranger)
  • Baker's Twine

oh Esther I love it-adore the textured background-nice and subtle but there and then the explosion of colour-the ombre look of the sentiment-just right. And I love the little details like the silver sprinkles on the cake...so yummy. I have to admit to being a bit of a impatient crafter and prefer to 'cover up' mistakes then start all over again but now and then a card does it ripped up! It was fun to read how you thought this through. Thanks for joining Time Out

What a fabulous re-do, Esther ... love how you reconstructed your design to make this scrumptious cake stand out against the background texture ... it's so fun and wonderfully celebratory! Thanks so much for playing along with us at our 5th birthday celebrations at Time Out! Anita :)

Oh it does stand out so much better the second time. I don't always have time to make it better, often I am just getting them done in enough time to get them in the mail, then later when I am looking at the pictures I think oh I wish I would have thought to do this or that.
Such a fun card you came up with , cute decorating of the cake!
