Be Still

Today's card features two Graciellie Design digital stamp sets --- one old and one new!
I created a floral frame with the images from Life Happens and printed it on watercolor paper. After coloring with Prismacolor pencils, I fussy cut around the frame to make the flowers stand out a bit.

Here's a bit of behind the scenes in my creative process for you:
I always "fuss" with my cards -- rearranging layouts (sometimes a dozen times or more), trying to match up papers to mat images with, adding and subtracting embellishments etc. etc.
For this card I really wanted that floral frame to stand out, and I tried several things - a plain white background, matting it on black, and then on green polka dot paper with black and white mats behind. (see photo below).
I actually photographed it this way, thinking it was going to be the final card BUT......the longer I looked at it the less I liked it! So, I ripped it all apart and went with something simplistic....no matting, just a clean and simple shape card.

I LOVE how it turned out in the end -- the frame looks so elegant around the verse!
So the lessons are these:
Don't be afraid to rip things apart and start over
Sometimes simple is better
Keep trying till you get it right
