It's time for our Wednesday challenge over at The House That Stamps Built. This week we have an inspiration board for you. This challenge is a fun cross between a photo challenge and a color challenge. You can choose to be inspired by the colors, the photograph, or both! I was inspired by the butterfly photo of the left.
I can't remember where I saw the trick of turning a regular open-winged butterfly into a flying butterfly -- but here's how I did mine...
- stamped two butterflies
- embossed in black and painted them
- cut out two of the same side
- glued one wing over the top of the other - slightly to the left
- cut off the other antennae and added it under the body
Supplies and Tools:
- Repeat Impression Stamps:
- Lace Embossing Folder (Sizzix - Tim Holtz)
- Vellum
- Feather Lace Oval Dies (Gina Marie
- Garden Greens Thinlits (Sizzix - Tim Hotlz)
- Forget Me Not Blendable Ink (Ranger - Wendy Vecchi)
- These colors of Distress Oxide (Ranger):
- Fossilized Amber
- Dusty Concord
- Twisted Citron

Stunning take on the photo, like the deep colors and dimension!
Awesome! I've never altered a butterfly like that. Great idea and I'll have to give it a try.
Beautiful - love how you did the butterfly and instructions too. I have not seen this done before. Your flowers add just the final element to this card.
This is so pretty. I really like that embossed vellum. Your butterfly steals the show with those gorgeous colors! I know I have seen that trick with a butterfly, but I had forgotten.
This is beautiful!! I LOVE how you created your butterfly; so glad you explained it. And your flowers are so pretty! (While I'm here: Thanks for playing with LTSCB.)
so lovely, I think that is a neat way to make the butterfly in the flying position. your flowers are just gorgeous!
Awesome card Esther and a clever tip, never thought of making the butterfly this way and I now that there where times I wanted a flying butterfly and I don't have one.
