Watercolor Valentine

Today's card features a vibrant background I created by lightly stenciling flowers onto watercolor paper (using antique linen distress ink), and then painting over them with watercolor paints. (You'll be seeing more variations of this next week because I'm having so much fun experimenting with the watercolors I got for Christmas!)

Has anyone else ever had a "brilliant" idea for making a card only to have it completely flop? That seems to be the story of my life! I can fill my scrap bin with rejects in record time. This card was one of those brilliant ideas that didn't work, but in the end it turned out even better than I had originally planned. So the moral of the story is: "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!" (smile)

Do I ever! Esther, this has got to be my new favorite from you, and I'm even more tickled that your were able to bring a rejected piece to life on this amazing card! This is a stunning design! I seem to always to be using 'rejected' panels on my makes as of late. Thank you so much for playing along with us at The Funkie Junkie Boutique blog!

Where to begin with all the WOW factor going on!! No one would ever guess it was a reject! I surely didn’t believe you. The bright, the bold, the black, it’s all so stunningly well put together.
