Easter Bunny

Stamp Simply has a BRAND NEW Easter and Baptism mini release this week. My card today features the new "Easter is for Jesus" stamps and coordinating dies. Isn't that bunny just the sweetest?!

I had fun creating my background by stamping those cute eggs in three soft pastel colors.  To soften the edges I inked them in antique linen ink and then added some splatters -- just for fun!

  • These colors of Distress Ink (Ranger)
    • Walnut Stain, Antique Linen

Two cards - One background

Hello friend. I'm up on the Sweet n Sassy blog today sharing two cards.  My first card features the BRAND NEW Alleluia Lilies and coordinating Alleluia Lilies Dies that I used to practice some no-line watercoloring. I stamped the Background Builders: Stripes on white card stock and added some spot stamping with Psalm 23 Background. I trimmed it into a long strip and matted it on green card stock.  To add a bit of interest to the white card front I used the Delightfully Delicate Stencil and some peeled paint distress oxide. The sentiment is stamped in Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink.

Other Supplies:

  • Canson Watercolor Paper
  • Watercolor Paints (Zenacolor)
  • White Acrylic Paint
  • Peeled Paint Distress Oxide (Ranger)

My second card uses the leftover piece of striped paper that I created with the Background Builders: Stripes set turned the other way and used across the bottom of my card.

I created a focal point for my card using Flower Garden and Sweet As Honey, which I colored with Arteza Real Brush Pens. The top part of my card is a collage consisting of Flower Garden, Cheerful Hexies, and Psalm 23 Background. The Fence Die divides the two sections and a sentiment from Encouraging Thoughts is stamped in Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink  ink across the bottom.

I have another fancy fold card to share with you this month. This one was inspired by the new Festive Friday Challenge board and features the BRAND NEW Alleluia Lilies stamps and dies from Sweet n Sassy Stamps.

I watercolored the lily and palm branches and also watercolored the blue striped backgrounds adding splatters and a bit of text to make them more interesting.

Winter ATC's

Here are some winter themed artist trading cards I made and sent to my swap friend in Canada last month. I like to wait until she receives them to post, so she can be surprised! I used a whole array of products from different companies on these -- so fun to mix and match!

Springtime Greetings

The Stamp Simply team is sharing spring and Easter cards on the blog this week. I decided to use the BRAND NEW Brushstroke Flowers dies that Sharon recently added to the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store:. I die cut all the pieces using Canson Mix Media Paper, and painted them with watercolor paints. After they were assembled, I spot stamped text using one of the stamps from "Fruit of the Spirit," and finished them off with some white paint splatters.

Supplies from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store:

Other Suppiles:

Servants

We have two dogs that my husband takes outside to play and exercise several times a day to keep their energy in check. That means my laundry room floor is continually dirty -- in the summer it's fresh cut grass, in the fall it's dried leaves, and in the winter and spring it's muddy paw prints. A couple years ago, I was grumbling to myself about the mess they make (as I swept it all up for the umpteenth time that day) when the quiet voice of God's Word whispered in my ear; "...whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." (I Cor. 10:31) I realized that it's easier to serve God in the fun, up-front things, and things that get us recognition and praise; but more difficult to do the thankless jobs, the things that no one notices, or the yucky stuff.

Society often gives honor to those who are "successful" and  make it to the top, but Jesus measures us a different way, "If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.”(Mark 9:35) He isn't impressed with our education, our money, our executive position, our pile of possessions, or our famous friends. He's interested in whether or not we have a servant's heart.

We're good at coming up with excuses for things we'd rather not do. Sometimes we feel a job is beneath us or not our responsibility.  Maybe we're busy and our schedules are too full. Sometimes we fail to serve because we're all caught up in our own problems and just not paying attention to the needs of others. In all honesty, sometimes we're just plain lazy, selfish, or indifferent.

Serving isn't about doing big things, there are a million little things we can do for others. Things as simple as holding a door, cleaning up your table at the restaurant to save the waitress some work, being friendly to the lonely person in the room, or putting away the cart someone left in the middle of the parking lot.  Remember Luke 16:10, “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much,"

I'd love for you to leave a comment and tell me about some practical ways you try to serve the people around you.

Vellum Lilies

Happy Saturday!! Is anyone crafting today? This Easter card is pretty quick and easy to put together with no coloring and just some simple stamping. Don't those vellum lilies look elegant against the kraft card stock? Also, if you don't have room for a large sentiment, you might try what I did here - using just the last line of one of the Easter Innies Sentiments!

Monogram Card

Altenew is having a monogram contest with the main requirement being to use at least one Altenew product on your creation. I used three of the four I own on my card for today.

To create my card: I printed off an oversized "h" on my computer, and then traced it onto watercolor paper. I stenciled some vines from the wonderful wreath die and watercolored them before spot stamping text and adding splatters. The flowers were stamping using distress oxides.

Watercoloring Dry Embossing

Warning: You may need sunglasses to scroll down this post! I decided to experiment with water watercoloring one of Altenew's 3D embossing folders, and I have two versions to share with you today. I actually made the brighter one first, and then decided to try a pastel one as well. After painting them, I splattered them with white paint and did a little spot stamping with a text stamp. I also added a bit of shimmer spray, but it's hard to see in the photos. Which version do you like better?
