Living Room Decor

My sister-in-law just graduated high school and she ask me to help her decorate her graduation table. Since she only gave me one weeks notice --- I didn't have a lot of time to whip something up.
I decided to use my living room decorations and also make a few new things to go along with them.
My sister-in-law was happy with her table and my living room got a "sprucing up!"
Here's the birdcage collage I made up.
It includes a bluebird, mini tea-cup with candle, a pack of old-looking papers tied up with twine, and a little dictionary page pennant banner around the outside.
Here's a better view of the vintage-looking papers.
I printed a verse on the top layer, crumpled all the papers, then stacked them and tied them together with twine.
Here's a link to the verse I printed on the top paper.
Here's the books I wrapped in brown paper and tied up with lace and ribbon.
I added a key to the top of the bundle.
To make the little chalkboard I bought a cheap (and ugly) framed mirror at the thrift store for a few cents.
I removed the mirror and replaced it with a piece of cardboard - painted with chalkboard paint.

To change the ugly frame I painted it cream and then went over it lightly with a light blue letting the cream show through.
I got this frame at the thrift store as well (for 59 cents) - I simply created/printed the nest word art on vellum and added a lace bow to the corner.
One last item on the coffee table -- a painted mason jar!
Here's the twine bow I added to the front to dress it up a bit.

Here's a freebie for you as well -- the Nest Printable!

Come back tomorrow for a few more living room re-do pics!

Fantastic as always! Your decor is always an inspiration, even if we have different decorating styles. I love the way you make things look fantastic without spending a fortune.

Like! I have that key...need to dig it out. I've been wanting to try painting the jar. The twine makes it neat, too. And oh...the verses in the birdcage. Love that.

Esther,
What a wonderful layout. The blues are so regal, and the birdcage is lovely. I used brown paper bags for wrapping paper ( with Fran-tage embossing powder all over) but never thought to make a wonderful pile of antique papers.
This is an amazing gift.
Thank you for sharing this fabulous art with us. Your participation this week at WAW is greatly appreciated.
Abundant Blessings,
