Dragonflies and Lace

Since there are five Wednesdays in July we get to do a sketch challenge over on the The House That Stamps Built. Here's the sketch Wendy gave us to work with this month...

Ok, so I admit...this sketch was really hard for me. You already know (if you've followed me for any length of time) that I like to put my own spin on things, but this one proved especially difficult. I flipped the sketch sideways, and managed to include all the basic "pieces" - with only the dragonfly being a different shape than the sketch! In the end, I really liked how my card turned out, but I filled up my scrap bag getting there. (smile)
Supplies and Tools:
  • Repeat Impressions Stamps

  • White Embossing Powder
  • Mermaid Lagoon & Twisted Citron Distress Ink (Ranger)

Good job on this Esther - I have to tell you that it took me a few minutes to find the fishtail banner on your card. Wonderful ink blending.

I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one who struggled with this one! When I first saw it, it looked easy - can't wait to see what our friends of RI do with it! Your card turned out so beautifully, my friend! Great job!

Very pretty - love the dragon fly - he is so classic to work with. Love your dies - the tatted lace - looks very realistic. Love the green and blue color scheme. I think sketches are just supposed to give us an "idea" same as with inspiration photo.

Hi Esther! I love what you did with the sketch. The background is bright and beautiful and I do see the sketch in your card. I know I often spin sketches quite a bit and then feel badly about it, but yours worked out great!
